Family Wisdom: Wise Correction

Sermon Audio:

The Bible places the responsibility directly on the wise and godly among us to properly instruct, disciple, parent and model biblical values, practices, and attitudes to children. But we are also to do this with one another. Discipline is not just for children, it is good for all of us who wish to grow wise. The number one key wisdom-building tool of discipleship is discipline. Listen in as Pastor Paul continues our Family Wisdom series!

Family Wisdom: Wise Communication

Sermon Audio:

This Sunday we talked about words, and specifically how we speak and communicate with one another. This is a subject of great importance in the book of Proverbs. In fact, there are more proverbs that address our communication than any other subject. Our words, like money, reveal our inner life.

Listen is as Pastor Paul gives us some more Family Wisdom on the topic of communication from the book of Proverbs.

Sermon Notes: Family Wisdom: The Wise Use of Money

This morning we are going to look at some advice from Solomon on the number one issue that couples say they fight about: money. Money is a huge issue in relationships. Money is one of the top reasons divorced couples list for their marriage ending. What is it about money? The answer is simple: money in all its forms acts as a magnifying glass. It zooms in, expands, and amplifies what’s really going on in our hearts.

Sermon Notes: Family Wisdom: The Wisdom of Motherhood

Last week we started with a basic question: what is wisdom? We defined wisdom as the quality of discerning what is true, what is ethically right, and what those who fear God ought to do in different situations. Every week of this series we will explore aspects of that definition because there is a lot of truth packed into that one sentence.

Today we will hear from Pastor Paul as he explores the aspect of that definition of wisdom as it applies to motherhood. Whether you are a mother or a child, a father or single, we hope this message will encourage you!

Family Wisdom: The Role of Wisdom in the Family

Sermon Notes: Family Wisdom: The Role of Wisdom in the Family

Researchers that study the family express complete astonishment at how rapidly the American family is changing. There is a complexity and churning of relationship definitions on a scale never seen before. The Norman Rockwell picture of family is disappearing. Social scientists tell us the old fashioned family plan of two stably married parents presiding over a household with their own children is increasingly seen as out of reach for all but one class of people—“the educated elite." There is a proven correlation between people who think and the stability, success, and well being of their family. People who dedicate significant portions of their life to learning find themselves in stable families. This is an idea that the Bible and specifically the book of Proverbs has been shouting to the world for thousands of years.
