This morning we continue our new series, The Essentials, from the book of Matthew.
When one person goes astray we seek after them. An important part of loving one another is pursuing one another. This is a key aspect of the mission statement of our church: "Passionately pursuing Christ, lovingly pursuing others for Christ." Lovingly pursuing others involves evangelism, "seeking and saving the lost," going out into all the world and sharing the gospel. Missions, evangelism, and discipleship are all loving attempts to pursue others for Christ. But it also involves lovingly pursuing straying believers. Our passage this morning builds on that thought. What is a church supposed to do if someone in the body strays, or if one of us starts causing problems? What is the loving response?
